Thanks for trying Disconnect! We are sorry to see you go.

UPDATE: Chrome warning explanation.

There is nothing unsafe with our extension.

Chrome is requiring all extension developers to update their extensions to Manifest V3 (here’s Chrome’s blog on the subject: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/develop/migrate/what-is-mv3). The problem is that Manifest V3 will not allow Disconnect (and other developers) the ability to offer very popular features: (1) the ability for you to see exactly what trackers are collecting data and (2) the ability to block/unblock specific trackers.

A Chrome compliant updated extension is now available!

Reinstall the new version of our extension here.

Want to re-install the prior non-compliant version of our Chrome extension?

Some folks really want the functionality of the prior version of our extension, so we are making that version of the extension available for manual install with important WARNINGS:

  1. There will be no auto-update functionality, you must manually install and update this extension.
  2. Chrome will continue to issue warnings that this version of our extension does not comply with their guidelines.
  3. This extension will likely be rendered non-operational by Chrome at some point in 2025.

You can download the prior extension .crx for manual install here.
